My Team Member Survived a Massive Earthquake and It Made Me Think of You

First Things First

I'm stopping everything this week to be ears, eyes, and prayers for Luwelyn — a member of my team for over a year and a half.

She has been impacted by the southern Philippines earthquake. It was massive. I've lived in San Francisco. I've had my own home completely flooded out in Florida. But Luwelyn's town's infrastructure was destroyed. Luwelyn has a lovely family with two beautiful girls she's caring for.

So if prayers are your thing, please send them. If you have wise words, feel free to share them. Luwelyn was able to use a bit of her 'no electricity' mode to share the basics — you can find her update and leave your wishes there.

If you want to help more: I'm doing my own thing to help and others are welcome to jump in. I don't do the mass funding apps because they get hacked, misused, and manipulated. I want clarity on what gets handed over, how, and to whom. So reach out directly if you want to be part of that.

Okay. Now for First World Problems.

Your life's purpose. Not wasting your life minutes on a basic day job just to run out the clock.

Weirdly, me, my team, including Luwelyn — we're all working on this higher purpose thing. So oddly, I'll say: look at Luwelyn. And ask yourself WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU.

  • Would your current job be worth it?
  • Would the fear open you up to that dream lurking in the back of your head?
  • Would you change your level of tolerance for pointless, annoying, mundane, average, or 'just for the paycheck'?

The good thing is you don't need an earthquake to test this all out.

You can just test out the steps I built from 20 years of similar life-altering experiences that were NOT solved by guru inspo, weekend retreats, or self-help books.

I Am Bloody Thrilled to Share This With You

So I'm bloody mother trucking THRILLED to be sharing the actual, doable KindEdge Steps.

They are not a 6-month course. They are a series of steps that become a system that lives and grows with you and your KindEdge Project of You.

Lock into your big, dumb, stupid, delayed, ignored dream — your desire, your inner voice, your simple craving to set a big goal. Because these steps are a do-it-with-you guide to achieving it while also redesigning your life to ensure it will be sustainable. We design your life to support your goals so that your goals will thrive in the new fertile ground you create in your daily rhythms and habits.

Please send me your thoughts and questions. I am not any sort of life coach or therapist. I'm just a journey partner sharing this with you.

Here's Where to Start

Here is my video intro to the KindEdge Steps:

It is not going to be easy. But it is going to be fun.

Boundaries Are Not Bargaining Chips: What Nobody Taught You About Protecting Your Life

I spent over twenty years reading every book on boundaries and being taught the wrong thing by a lot of very smart, well-paid people. In this post, I share what boundaries actually are, why treating them as bargaining chips keeps you in a battle instead of a life, and how to build the kind of perimeter that lets the right people in and keeps the wrong ones out, without negotiating from inside the cage.

Contract to Expand: The Life Hack That Makes Room for the Project of You When Life Is Already Full

For years I tried to squeeze my real goals into a one-hour Sunday night slot that always got hijacked. Nothing moved. The hack that finally worked was not adding more, it was contracting first: shrinking financial obligations, clearing commitments, making real physical room so the thing that mattered could finally expand into it. In this post, I share exactly how contract to expand works and why waiting for January 1st is never the answer.
